Employee Geofencing Location
This is where a place built on Geofencing Locations is given to a person. One record per employee, one line per place he is allowed, with the dates and the hours it applies.
What it is for
A location on its own allows nobody. This screen is the grant.
One record holds one employee and a list of places. The list is a list and not a single field because people legitimately have more than one: a regional sales manager may mark attendance at head office, at the Lahore office and at the factory, and all three are correct.
Each line carries its own dates and its own times. The dates let a grant be temporary, which is the normal case for a site posting. The times let a grant be limited to the hours the person is meant to be there, so a punch from the client plant at two in the morning is not accepted just because the place is on his list.
A person with no record here and no reader to punch at has nowhere to mark attendance from. That is usually what is wrong when somebody says the phone will not let them punch.
Every field, in plain words
Basic Data
| Field | What it means | What to put in it | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Employee | The person being granted the locations. | EMP-0318 | Pick from the list. One record per person. |
| Name | Their name. | Saima Khalid | Required. Fills itself from the employee. Leave it. |
Location
One line per place the person is allowed.
| Field | What it means | What to put in it | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Line # | The line number. | Fills itself. Leave it. | |
| Location ID | Which place this line grants. | HO-KHI | Pick it from the list of locations. |
| Date From | The first date the grant applies. | 01-Jan-2026 | Leave it empty for an open ended grant. |
| Date To | The last date it applies. | 31-Mar-2026 | Fill it in for a temporary posting so the grant ends by itself. |
| Time From | The earliest time of day a punch from this place is accepted. | 08:00 | Leave both times empty to accept any hour. |
| Time To | The latest time of day it is accepted. | 19:00 | |
| Line Text | A note on the line. | Site posting, Faisalabad plant commissioning |
How to configure it
- Build the places first on Geofencing Locations.
- Open the screen and pick the Employee, for example
EMP-0318. - Add a line per place. For a Karachi based sales officer, one line for
HO-KHIwith no dates and a time window of 08:00 to 19:00. - For a temporary posting add a second line with the site location and both dates filled, for example 01-Jan-2026 to 31-Mar-2026.
- Write a Line Text so the next person to open the record knows why the grant exists.
- Save.
Scenarios
"An engineer is at the client plant for three months"
Add a line with the client plant location and Date From and Date To covering the posting. Leave his head office line alone. When the posting ends the line stops allowing anything by itself and nobody has to remember to remove it.
"He is marking attendance at six in the morning from the office, which is nonsense"
Put a Time From on the office line, say 08:00, and a Time To of 19:00. A punch outside those hours from that place is no longer accepted.
"The whole sales team needs head office"
One record per person, one line each. There is no group grant on this screen.
What it is connected to
- Geofencing Locations supplies the places and their radius.
- The punches a person marks this way become days on Employee Attandance, the same as a reader punch.
- A person who works away from any accepted place needs an On Duty Request instead, not a location.
If something looks wrong
- "He says the phone will not let him mark attendance" - he has no record here, or no line whose dates and times cover the moment he tried.
- "The line is there but it still refuses" - check Date From and Date To on the line, and check Time From and Time To against the hour he tried.
- "He is accepted from the wrong place" - the radius on the location is too wide. Fix it on Geofencing Locations, which fixes every person at once.
