Payroll Group
A payroll group is a plain list of names, kept for grouping and reference. Nothing in PeopleNest calculates from it today.
What it is for
It holds a code and a name and nothing else. No payroll calculation reads a payroll group, no screen is narrowed by one, and a man is not attached to one, so filling this screen in does not change any amount or any run.
If the client is looking for a way to pay part of the workforce separately, the fields that actually do that are Pay Scale and Pay Area, both of which sit on a man's salary record and both of which the payroll run can be narrowed to. Use those, and leave this screen alone unless the client has a reporting reason to keep the list.
Every field, in plain words
Basic Data
| Field | What it means | What to put in it | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payroll Group | The code | MONTHLY, DAILY | Required |
| Name | How it reads in a list | Monthly paid staff | Required |
| Block | Stops the group being picked | Leave it clear |
Scenarios
"We want to process the factory payroll separately from the office"
Not this screen. Give the factory its own Pay Area on the salary records and launch the payroll run for that area. The payroll group has no effect on a run.
If something looks wrong
- "We filled the payroll groups in and nothing changed" - that is expected. Nothing reads them.
