CareerPageSetting

Career Page Setting is the switch that decides whether a company appears on the public careers page at all. Until it is ticked here, no candidate can see the company and no vacancy of its can be applied for, however carefully the vacancy itself has been published.

What it is for

The careers page is a separate site a candidate opens from outside the company, with no login and no PeopleNest knowledge. The first thing it shows him is the list of companies that are hiring. That list is built from the companies whose Career Page Enabled box is ticked on this screen.

So this is the master switch. A group running three companies on one PeopleNest can advertise from one of them and keep the other two off the public site entirely, by ticking one record and leaving the other two unticked.

The welcome message is the company's own words at the top of its page. Clients who skip it get a bare list of vacancies, which works but reads as if nobody is home.

One record per company. If a client has one company he has one record and he edits it, he does not add a second.

Every field, in plain words

FieldWhat it meansWhat to put in itNotes
Legal EntityThe company this career page belongs toPick it from the list, for example Tariq Textile Mills LimitedOne record per company. You cannot hold two records for the same company.
Career Page EnabledTick to make this company visible on the public careers pageTickedUntick it and the company disappears from the public site immediately, along with every vacancy published under it. Applications already received are untouched.
Sort OrderWhere this company sits in the list of companies on the careers page1Only matters when more than one company is enabled. Lower comes first.
Welcome MessageThe paragraph a candidate reads at the top of the company's careers pageTariq Textile Mills has been spinning and weaving in Faisalabad since 1987. We are hiring across our production, quality and finance teams.Keep it to two or three sentences. It is public and candidates do read it.

How to configure it

  1. Set the Applicant Portal User on Recruitment Setting first. Without it the careers page can show the company but cannot record anything a candidate sends.
  2. Open Career Page Setting and pick the company.
  3. Write the Welcome Message. Get the wording from the client, it is public.
  4. Set Sort Order if more than one company will be enabled.
  5. Tick Career Page Enabled only when the client is ready for the page to be seen, and save.
  6. Publish at least one vacancy on Recruitment Project with Company Website ticked and its dates open, or the page will show the company with nothing to apply for.

Scenarios

"We are a group of three companies but we only recruit centrally"

One record ticked, for the company that does the hiring. The other two get records with Career Page Enabled unticked, or no record at all. Candidates see one employer, and the vacancies they apply for all belong to that company.

"Take the careers page down, we have filled everything"

Untick Career Page Enabled. The company vanishes from the public site. Nothing you have already received is lost and nothing has to be re-entered when the client comes back. This is a gentler switch than closing every vacancy one at a time.

What it is connected to

  • Legal Entity must exist first.
  • Recruitment Setting holds the login the careers page writes through. This screen controls visibility, that screen controls whether anything can be recorded.
  • Recruitment Project is the vacancy itself. A vacancy only reaches the careers page if its company is enabled here and the vacancy has Company Website ticked.
  • Career Application is where what a candidate submits lands.

If something looks wrong

  • "The careers page does not show our company" - Career Page Enabled is unticked.
  • "Our company shows but there are no jobs" - no Recruitment Project has Company Website ticked, or every one of them is past its application deadline or close date.
  • "Candidates can see the jobs but say applying does nothing" - the Applicant Portal User on Recruitment Setting is blank.
  • "Our companies are listed in the wrong order" - the Sort Order numbers, not the company names.
