Screen Status
Screen Status is the list of states a screening step can be in, for example In Progress, Passed or On Hold. Of the four similarly named screens it is the one that fills the Status half of a pairing on Applicant Status Stage.
What it is for
Screen Stage says how far a candidate has got. Screen Status says how that is going. They are two lists because a client needs to say both things at once: at CV Review and Passed is not the same as at CV Review and On Hold.
The screen is the same shape as Screen Stage, a code and a name and nothing else. Like Screen Stage it is not read directly by the Screening screen. It is read by Applicant Status Stage, which pairs each status with a stage. Until a status appears in a pairing it cannot be picked anywhere.
The names are translated, so each language sees its own wording.
Every field, in plain words
| Field | What it means | What to put in it | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen Status | The short code for the status | INPROG | Required. Must be unique. |
| Name | The status in words | In Progress |
How to configure it
- List the stages first on Screen Stage, because the pairing needs both halves.
- Open Screen Status and add one record per state a step can be in. Three usually covers it: In Progress, Passed, Rejected. Add On Hold if the client parks candidates rather than rejecting them.
- Give each a short code and the name HR should see, and save.
- Go to Applicant Status Stage and pair each status with the stage it belongs to.
Scenarios
"Pass or fail, we do not need anything in between"
Two records: Passed and Rejected. The client will still want a third in practice, because a candidate sitting in a stage is in neither state yet. In Progress is worth adding even when he says he does not need it.
What it is connected to
- Applicant Status Stage borrows this list for its Status column.
- Recruitment Applicant Screening shows the result of that pairing in its Screening Status field.
- Nothing else reads this list. It has no effect on an Offer or on the Applications Pipeline, both of which carry their own fixed status lists.
If something looks wrong
- "The Screening Status list on the Screening screen is empty" - no pairings exist yet on Applicant Status Stage. Adding statuses here is only half the job.
- "Two statuses look the same in the list" - they have different codes but the same name. The name is what HR sees, so make the names distinct.
