Screen Stage
Screen Stage is the list of points a candidate can have reached while being screened, for example CV Review or Phone Screen. Of the four similarly named screens it is the one that fills the Stage half of a pairing on Applicant Status Stage, which is what the Screening screen then offers.
What it is for
Screening a candidate has two separate questions in it. How far has he got, and how is that going. Screen Stage answers the first one. You list the points of the screening walk here once, in the client's own words, and nothing else about this screen is complicated.
The one thing to know is that the Screening screen does not read this list directly. It reads Applicant Status Stage, which puts a stage from this list next to a status from Screen Status and gives the pair a step number. So a stage you add here does not appear anywhere until it is used in a pairing.
The names are translated, so a client running PeopleNest in more than one language sees each one in his own.
Every field, in plain words
| Field | What it means | What to put in it | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen Stage | The short code for the stage | CVREV | Required. Must be unique. Keep it short, this is what appears in lists. |
| Name | The stage in words, as the HR officer should read it | CV Review |
How to configure it
- Open Screen Stage and add one record per point in the client's screening walk. For a 500 person manufacturing company that is usually four: CV Review, Phone Screen, Technical Test, Reference Check.
- Give each a short code and the name HR should see.
- Save each one, then go to Screen Status and list the outcomes.
- Finish on Applicant Status Stage, which pairs the two lists. Until you do that, nothing you entered here is pickable.
Scenarios
"Our screening is just a CV sift and a phone call"
Two records: CV Review and Phone Screen. Do not add stages the client does not use. Every stage has to be paired on Applicant Status Stage before it does anything, so an unused stage is an unpaired one and only clutters setup.
What it is connected to
- Applicant Status Stage borrows this list for its Stage column.
- Recruitment Applicant Screening shows the result of that pairing in its Screening Stage field.
- Nothing else in PeopleNest reads this list. The stage names on the Applications Pipeline are a separate, fixed list and are not affected by what you put here.
If something looks wrong
- "I added a stage but the Screening screen does not offer it" - it has not been paired yet on Applicant Status Stage. That is the screen the Screening fields read.
- "It will not let me save, it says the record already exists" - the code is already in use. Codes must be unique.
