Announcement

Announcement is where HR puts the notices everybody should see when they sign in: the Eid holiday schedule, the new canteen timing, the annual medical camp. Each notice has a title, some wording, an optional picture, and a date it stops showing itself.

What it is for

Notices on a wall only reach the people who walk past the wall. This screen puts the same notice in front of everybody who signs in.

There is one record per company, and the notices are lines inside it. That is deliberate: HR does not create a record per announcement, they open their company and add a line. Old notices stay on the list so there is a history of what was announced and when.

A notice stops showing in two ways. Untick Active to pull it down at once, or set Active Till so it takes itself down on the right day. Use Active Till for anything with a date in it, so nobody is still reading last Eid's schedule in November.

How to configure it

  1. Make sure the company exists on Legal Entity.
  2. Open Announcement. If a record already exists for the company, edit it rather than creating a second one.
  3. Pick the Legal Entity.
  4. Add a line. Type the title and the body.
  5. Attach a picture if there is one.
  6. Tick Active, and set Active Till to the day after the notice stops being relevant.
  7. Save. Sign in as an ordinary user and check the notice appears.

Scenarios

"We want the Eid holiday schedule up for everybody"

One line. Title with the dates in it, body with the detail about which departments still run a shift, Active ticked, and Active Till set to the first working day back. It takes itself down.

"The canteen timing has changed and it needs to stay up"

One line with Active ticked and Active Till left blank. It stays until somebody unticks Active.

"Two companies in the group and the notices are different"

One record per company. Each company's staff see only their own company's lines.

What it is connected to

  • Needs Legal Entity, because a notice belongs to a company.
  • Nothing else in PeopleNest reads what you enter here. It is a one way message to staff.

If something looks wrong

  • "The save says the company cannot be empty" - Legal Entity was left blank. A notice has to belong to a company.
  • "Staff still see an old notice" - Active is still ticked and Active Till is blank or in the future.
  • "A notice I added is not showing" - Active is not ticked, or Active Till is already in the past.
