Country

The list of countries. It is what every address, nationality and passport field in PeopleNest picks from, and it carries the country's dialling code, its currency and whether an address in it has to name a province.

What it is for

PeopleNest arrives with the countries of the world already in it, marked as predefined. In most implementations you never open this screen.

You open it when the client needs something the standard record does not have: a country that is missing, a dialling code that is wrong for the numbers they actually dial, or a currency that needs correcting before expenses are claimed in it.

The State Required tick is the one setting worth checking. With it on, an address in that country cannot be saved without a province, which is what a Pakistani client normally wants. With it off, a one-city country does not force anybody to invent a province.

How to configure it

  1. Open Country and look for the countries the client actually uses. They are almost certainly already there.
  2. Check Pakistan: Calling code 92, Currency PKR, State Required ticked.
  3. Add a record only if a country the client needs is genuinely missing. Enter the code, name, calling code and currency.
  4. Save.

Scenarios

A country is missing from the list

Add it. Code, name, calling code and currency are enough. Tick State Required only if its addresses really do need a province.

A country has to be removed

If it is marked Predefined it cannot be deleted, and that is deliberate - other records may point at it. Leave it alone, it does no harm sitting in a list nobody picks from.

What it is connected to

If something looks wrong

  • "It will not let me delete a country, it says it is predefined" - that is correct. A country the system shipped with stays.
  • "It will not save an address without a province" - the country has State Required ticked. Either name the province or clear the tick for that country.
  • "The province list is empty for a country" - no State record names that country yet.
