Cost Object Group
A cost object group gathers several cost objects together and puts a cost against each one. It exists so a machine's depreciation, its power and its labour can be applied as a single bundle instead of being picked one at a time. It belongs to the manufacturing side of the shared product.
What it is for
Costing a machine usually means costing several things at once. Naming them individually every time is slow and gets forgotten, so they are bundled here, each with the cost that applies to it.
The group also carries a standard cost of its own, which is the figure used where the individual lines are not being worked out in detail.
An HR-only installation does not need this screen.
Every field, in plain words

How to configure it
- Create the Cost Objects first. Nothing can be picked here that does not exist.
- Open Cost Object Group and enter the code and name, for example
WEAVEandWeaving Shed Costs. - Enter the Standard Cost for the group.
- Add a line per cost object with its own cost.
- Save. The screen refuses a group with no lines.
- Skip the screen entirely on an HR-only implementation.
Scenarios
A machine's cost is depreciation plus power plus labour
Three cost objects, one group, three lines, a cost on each. The group is then applied in one step wherever the machine is costed.
What it is connected to
- Cost Object must exist before a line can name one.
- The Resource and Resource Group screens of the manufacturing product read cost object groups.
