Region

A region is a group of countries - South Asia, the Gulf, Europe. It is the layer above Country, used where a client with staff or sites in several countries wants to see them grouped rather than listed.

What it is for

A purely Pakistani client never needs this screen. The regions arrive with the system and the only field on Country that reads them is already filled in.

It matters to a client with people in more than one country, who wants the Gulf reported as one line instead of four. You name the region here and then put it on each country that belongs to it.

Every field, in plain words

How to configure it

1. Open Region and check the grouping the client wants is already there.
2. If it is not, add a code and a name, for example GULF and Gulf States.
3. Save, then put the region on each country that belongs to it on the Country screen.

Scenarios

We have staff in Pakistan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia and want the Gulf as one line

Create one region, GULF, and set it as the Country Region on both the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan keeps SASIA. Reports that group by region then show two lines.

What it is connected to

• Country names a region in its Country Region field.
• The address lines on Legal Entity show the country region alongside the country.

If something looks wrong

• "It will not let me delete a region, it says it is predefined" - that is correct, a region the system shipped with stays.
• "A region groups nothing" - no country has it in its Country Region field.
