Education Level

An education level is a tier: matriculation, intermediate, bachelors, masters. It is the list you use when a job says "graduate or above" and you need the system to understand what above means. The qualification itself is a separate list on Education.

What it is for

Two lists are needed to record education, and clients conflate them constantly. The level is the tier: bachelors. The qualification is the thing itself: BSc Mechanical Engineering. One level covers hundreds of qualifications.

The level is the one that can be compared. A requisition that asks for a graduate is asking for a level, because listing every acceptable degree would be impossible. So keep this list to genuine tiers, in the order the country's education system actually runs, and keep subjects and degree names out of it.

Every field, in plain words

How to configure it

  1. List the tiers in the Pakistani system the client recruits from: PRI / Primary, MID / Middle, MATRIC / Matriculation, INTER / Intermediate, DAE / Diploma of Associate Engineering, BACH / Bachelors Degree, MAST / Masters Degree, PHD / Doctorate.
  2. Create one record each. Use codes that sort into tier order if your reports rely on it.
  3. Save, then create the qualifications themselves on Education.

Scenario

Our technical jobs ask for a DAE and our office jobs ask for a graduate

Both are levels, so both are records here. A DAE is a real tier in Pakistani technical recruitment and belongs on this list rather than being squeezed into intermediate or bachelors. Once it exists, a requisition for a Quality Inspector can ask for it specifically.

What it is connected to

  • Nothing has to exist before this screen.
  • Employee Education records an employee's qualifications and the level each sits at.
  • Recruitment Requisition states the minimum level a vacancy requires.
  • Education is the companion list holding the qualifications themselves.

If something looks wrong

  • "The levels are in the wrong order on the report" - the codes do not sort into tier order. Use codes that do, or prefix them with a number.
  • "Somebody entered a degree name as a level" - that belongs on Education. Keep this list to tiers.
